Aiden O’Hora started the business at Carrowkeel, Bohola Co. Mayo in 1952 from a granary at the rear of the family home, hiring out a hearse from Jimmy Doherty, Straid or Micháel Campbell, Swinford. Removals were from the home or from the mortuary at hospitals in Swinford or from County hospital, Castlebar.

Marty (Aiden’s eldest son) joined the bar business in 1976 on a fulltime basis. Marty and his two brothers and three sisters had all worked in the renamed bar now The Coillte Room.
In 2002 Aiden opened the funeral home next door to the bar formally Forde’s Drapery Shop, later Brendan Kelly’s Bookie Shop to a new look funeral home. Aiden retired from the bar trade at Christmas 1995 and Marty took over the bar.
